Indian company Adani Enterprises Limited has signed agreements with Ashok Leyland and Canadian company Ballard Power to pilot the development of hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks for the logistics and start-up of mining operations. Plans to invest more than $50 billion in innovative projects.

The new engine system will be available the first quarter of 2010 and the company is now taking orders to meet the increased demand for greener fleet vehicles, as the Department of Energy (DOE) starts to award stimulus funds this December. Systems are available through CleanFUEL USA Master Dealers and Preferred Installers.

GM CEO Rick Waggoner was pushed out and the company got sixty days to get its act together. Given the much lower production costs in China, the first Chinese company to pass American certification could place an EV on the market in the US that would cost a consumer under $20,000 (after incentives.)
