Three major school bus manufacturers—Daimler subsidiary Thomas Built Buses, Blue Bird and Navistar subsidiary IC Bus—introduced battery-electric school buses at the recent National Association for Pupil Transportation Annual Conference and Trade Show in Columbus, Ohio (NAPT). Jouley will drive up to 81 children.

In order for low-cost electricity from coal-fired power plants to remain available, the DOE said, economical methods for capturing and storing the greenhouse gas emissions from these plants must be developed. Such tagging will better quantify CO 2 monitoring and make it possible to accurately inventory geologically stored carbon.

The 1 MW/4hr system will store potential energy in the form of compressed air in above-ground industrial pressure facilities.
