As expected, the combination of fewer diesel registrations and more SUVs continued to have an impact on emissions. Despite an increase of EV models contributing positively to emission levels, the move away from diesel had a negative impact, one that the market could not offset. Looking at last month Best Sellers, if the winner was the usual Renault Zoe, below it, there was a surprise, with the Peugeot models taking the month off, as the French brand had already complied with the EU's 2020 CO2 rules, the 208 EV runner-up spot was up for grabs, and the taker of it was the VW ID.3, Mmmm.discuss.

Due to increased test numbers, JATO has a larger and more robust sample of vehicles from which to calculate the volume-weighted impact on NEDC-correlated CO2 values under WLTP testing. Significant progress is still needed for AFVs to plug the gap left by the declining diesel market, if the trend towards gasoline vehicles continues.

The Central Lancashire team’s car was based around a 30cc petrol engine that had been developed in-house and had been coupled with a bespoke engine management system that keeps fuel consumption low. It is also fitted with the brakes from a mountain bike. The existing records are impressive.
