Porsche, Siemens Energy and partners are developing and implementing a pilot project—the “Haru Oni” project—in Chile that is expected to yield the world’s first integrated, commercial, industrial-scale plant for making synthetic climate-neutral fuels (eFuels). Porsche will be the primary customer for the green fuel.

The 87 octane, gasoline-powered 3-cylinder engine has a rough sound upon start and idle, which increased when pushed during hard acceleration. The electrically power-assisted steering made turning in-town easy, but it made open road driving seem at times as if the car was barely connected to the road.

The PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle), a subset of the electric car, combines a primary electric motor with a much smaller back-up engine fueled with a hydrocarbon/biofuel mix. (In In this paper PHEV refers solely to the long-range PHEV of 60 miles (100 km) electric-only range.) It is much more than that.
