Automobile pollutants are one of the largest contributors to climate changing emissions. The vehicle will be recharged at night, plugged into a standard home outlet. Ford , Chrysler , Volvo Nissan , Subaru and VW have all indicated they will be bringing plug-in hybrids to the showroom floor for sale within the next few years.

Volvo Ford-owned company exploring PHEVs "ReCharge" flex-fuel series 60-mile concept PHEV w/wheel motors. No announced plans. Company says its focusing on gasoline and hydrogen.

Furthermore, even the older version PHEV can recharge at a slow rate using local solar, wind, water-derived or other net zero CO 2 fuel.

A chemist and government researcher, Wang raised some $300,000 from relatives, rented about 2,000 square meters of space, and set out to manufacture rechargeable batteries to compete with imports from Sony and Sanyo. Wang Chuan-Fu started BYD (the letters are the initials of the companys Chinese name) in 1995 in Shenzhen, China.

If youre a stickler for electric vehicles, there is an electric scooter that will travel up to 60 miles and can be recharged in 3 hours. Minus two when people realize that if theyre going to get stuck in traffic, they might as well do so in the climate controlled comfort of a car. Thats double the milage of a Prius and a lot more fun!
