Hype is developing the world’s first fleet of hydrogen-powered taxis. Launched during the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21) in Paris, it now has around 100 vehicles. The “2020 HYPE 600” project aims to reach the 600-taxi mark by the end of 2020.

At the Marrakech Climate Change Conference (COP22), eight nations—Canada, China, France, Japan, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the US— signed a Government Fleet Declaration , pledging to increase the share of electric vehicles in their government fleets and calling for other governments to join them.

In late April 2015, Geely Auto deployed a first-of-its-kind fleet of 150 methanol-fueled taxis in the southern Chinese city of Guiyang in cooperation with the municipal government. CRI is presenting at the 4 th Conference on CO 2 as Feedstock for Fuels, Chemistry and Polymers , being held at the end of September in Essen, Germany.

His people at MidAmerican have studied clean technologies like batteries and wind power for years because of the threat of climate change. Both will be sold first in China, primarily to fleet users: the government, post office, utilities, and taxi companies, all of which will build central fast-charging facilities.

The government will make direct grants to automakers (as we do, of course) and also provide “subsidies of up to $8,800 are being offered to taxi fleets and local government agencies in 13 Chinese cities for each hybrid or all-electric vehicle they purchase.” I’m eager to meet him and learn more about this remarkable company.
