Miami-Dade, Florida, has agreed to purchase 33, 40-foot Proterra Catalyst E2 electric buses with DuoPower drivetrain technology and up to 75 plug-in Proterra chargers. The order for Wärtsilä engines, hybrid exhaust cleaning scrubber systems, and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems was booked in 2016, while the order for the Wärtsilä integrated navigation systems was booked in March 2017. The ships will be built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has placed the RunWise Advanced Series Hybrid Drive ( earlier post ) from Parker Hannifin Corporation on the National Clean Diesel Campaign’s Emerging Technologies List. Eleven trucks have been purchased by the Cities of Hialeah, Miami and Miami Dade County.

The US Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced $55 million in grant selections through the Low or No Emission (Low-No) Vehicle program, which funds the development of transit buses and infrastructure that use advanced fuel technologies.
