Disneyland will replace gasoline vehicles at its Autopia ride with EVs in 2026, the Los Angeles Times confirmed this week. Little would have been gained by attempting to expand the reach of gasoline to laptops or refrigerators, so we've long been subjected to a decades-long preemptive assault on electric cars.

Without gasoline, today’s transportation fails. Consumer confidence in electric transportation is growing – aided in no small part by $4 to $5 gallons of gasoline. The first step was the hybrid, which proved to the world that electric power can reduce gas consumption. Electricity costs are relatively inexpensive.

It is reminiscent of the early 1900’s, when steam, electric, diesel, biomass, and gasoline power options competed on a level playing field for consumers’ attention. In the end, gasoline won out because it was the cheapest and delivered the most energy per unit, but it took 20 years to sort out.
