For our discussion, Saturn dealers were the delivery and service point for GM’s aborted first electric car, the EV1. Not easy or cheap, but it has worked so far. Brilliant advertising, ordinary vehicles and lack of corporate support and fresh product killed the brand, but it taught GM a lot. Create a New EV Company.

Cheap to run but expensive to buy, they offer theprospect of low or zero carbon emissions, but manufacturers won’t sell themunless motorists want to buy them – and motorists won’t buy unless the priceis right and there are enough places to charge the batteries. Is it becuase US market prefers a "home" product?
