Fun never comes cheap and the price of entry for this truck was $75,775. I mentioned the abysmal fuel-economy numbers – they are 10 mpg city/15 mpg highway/12 mpg combined. At least the fuel tank holds 36 gallons. Except when the guilt concerning the low MPGs hits. It has the off-road goods.

As for how much the aerodynamics help with fuel economy, read on. Size is the enemy of fuel economy, and even with a reduced cylinder count the numbers are a not great 14 mpg city/19 mpg highway/16 mpg combined. Just prepare to spend a lot on both the sticker price and fuel. That’s … a lot.

Excellent fuel economy, nice styling, low price and an excellent warranty. Low-cost but not cheap. This combination delivers EPA fuel economy numbers of 33 mpg city/41 highway/36 combined. The 2022 Kia Rio S ups the equation with superb fuel economy, a roomy cabin, and an excellent warranty.

Some materials felt a bit cheap, though. The entire package is well put together, balancing fun-to-drive, functionality, and fuel economy. That said, the Sportage Hybrid is fun-to-drive, fuel-efficient (38 mpg combined -- though I was seeing lower numbers. If it looks like I am struggling to pick nits, well, I am.

2025 Toyota Camry 2025 Toyota Camry theoretically sips fuel Toyota said in its most efficient form, which is a front-wheel-drive LE trim, the Camry is expected to have fuel economy ratings of 53 mpg city, 50 highway, 51 combined. The plastic is wavy and looks cheap, especially in the sun. Still efficient.
