Electric car company Aurica Motors, which plans to retool the NUMMI plant in California to build not only electric cars but compatible battery charging stations ( earlier post ), has entered two partnerships in support of its mission. Motive develops concept vehicles for major automakers such as Dodge, Hyundai, Suzuki, Chrysler, and Toyota.

The Volt , provided GM can get the lithium battery right , will go about 40 miles on an electric charge. Even he recognizes that the Volt will make historians forget about the (in my opinion) entirely forgettable Dodge Viper he concocted at Chrysler, as well as the 1000 horsepower Cadillac Sixteen concept car of a few years ago.

Under the Marchionne plan, former Envi chief Lou Rhodes will become the group line executive in charge of electric car development for both Fiat and Chrysler, Cappa said. That includes the Dodge Circuit, a two-seat, all-electric sports car that Chrysler engineers had rushed into prototype by using a Lotus platform.
