In the UK, Hyundai Motor has launched a gasoline and diesel scrappage and trade-in scheme that offers up to £5,000 (US$6,416) off the price of a new model and seeks to improve air quality across the UK by making it easier and more affordable to drive a new, lower emission car. i10 will also benefit from £1,500 saving.

New cars bought through the UK’s scrappage incentive scheme , which began in May, emit on average 10.9% less CO 2 (16 g/km) than the average new car, according to figures released by the car manufacturers’ trade association SMMT. The much derided scrappage scheme in the UK has started to benefit new car registrations for June 09. Overall new car sales fell by 15.7% Overall new car sales fell by 15.7% The industry has also seen a marked shift towards smaller, more frugal vehicles such as the Ford Fiesta, Hyundai i10 and i20, and Kia Soul.
