prior to a 4 April 2016 public workshop on the development of the FY 2016-17 Funding Plan for Low Carbon Transportation and Fuels Investments and AQIP. At least 50% of these Low Carbon Transportation funds would be invested to benefit disadvantaged communities and at least 10% would be invested directly in disadvantaged communities.

After my volunteer stint was over I stayed for the presentation and workshop. Overall it was a good workshop with lots of solid basic information for people who don’t know much about solar but are considering a solar electric system. The workshop was very well attended with over 130 local people showing up.

Analyst projections of future production volume for the most part are consistent with the targets set forth by ARB staff at the November 15, 2010, workshop, but caution is advisable. The ARB should pursue policies that put a price on carbon, resulting in higher prices for conventional fuels.

And the work they’re doing brings California’s leading edge fight against global warming right into my neighborhood and into my home. It basically involves doing a “carbon inventory&# of your city and using special software to plug in all the numbers. And that’s where the Green Task Force comes in.

As I learned at the day-long April 29th California Energy Commission Staff Workshop on AB 811 and AB 811 type programs in Sacramento, programs done on an individual city basis, like the City of Berkley’s, don’t enjoy the necessary economies of scale that countywide, JPA or statewide programs (now in development) can bring.
