IKEA US announced a collaboration with Electrify America and Electrify Commercial to bring ultra-fast public charging stations and delivery fleet electric vehicle (EV) charging to more than 25 IKEA retail locations throughout the US. The first locations are expected to open in late 2022 and be completed by the end of 2023.

IKEA plans to increase the number of ultra-fast public charging stations and delivery fleet car chargers in its US stores. Electrify Commercial, a division of Electrify America, will provide complete charging solutions for IKEA’s EV delivery fleet, with over 225 individual chargers installed throughout the sites.

The testers conducted nearly 150 tests at 28 stations (4 each from 7 different networks) in Michigan, Ohio, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. In 2021, umlaut’s testing team moved to the Northeast and covered 2,100 miles to find and test top sites from 7 networks—through 7 states over 6 days during September 2021.

The partnership will accommodate both passenger and commercial fleets as Electrify Commercial is also a part of the deal.
