The 92 retrofitted hybrid vehicles will be placed into service in California, primarily in the Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco metropolitan areas. One of the highlights of yesterday’s Green Car Day at City Hall in Central London was the appearance of the Nissan X-Trail Fuel Cell Vehicle. The car is part of Nissan’s fleet participating in the California Fuel Cell Partnership trials in the USA and has featured in a wide variety of low carbon events throughout Europe.

Tesla is the only production automaker selling a highway capable electric vehicle in North America and Europe, and as such Daimler’s investment will see the company furthering its development of battery-run cars. So far, 100 smart electric cars have already been undergoing large-scale trials in London since 2007.
