BYD , for examples, says their 60 mile range-extended vehicle can add 30 miles of range in ten minutes. But the batterypack is the most expensive part of the car -- it can cost thousands of dollars and equate to half the vehicle price. No single vehicle does it all even in todays petrol world. that my day to day car cant solve.

But it is a price that must be paid, and GM should be commended for remaining committed to the Volt. Not really sure where all the money is going, but it seems like the Volt is already over-priced and under performing. A simple, clean, efficient EV that wont run out of juice because of its on-board gas generator.
