The Chevrolet Trax was once on my short list for worst vehicles on the market. All I could think was that the little runabout was something to be avoided unless you just wanted cheap transport in crossover form. The 2024 Chevrolet Trax Activ remains affordable, but unlike its predecessor, I actually enjoyed driving it.

If we're talking about realistic Metro competitors here, the base 1992 Ford Festiva actually managed to undercut the price tag on the cheapest possible Metro two-door hatchback that year: $6,911 versus $6,999. You could buy versions of this car all the way through 2017 in Pakistan. Such is the nature of the mighty GM Empire.

Although Tesla gets the headlines (and stock price boost), Nissan and Chevrolet make the sales. Many workplaces could become EV friendly on the cheap, repurposing existing 120V outlets in parking areas and expressly allowing PEV charging. Providing a conventional 120V outlet is cheap and familiar. It’s also grid-friendly.

Here in the UK we’re so downtrodden by extortionate petrol prices that the prospect of driving fuel efficient green cars carries obvious appeal. However, what about our US neighbours where ‘gas’ prices are distinctly lower and so-called muscle cars are seen as almost iconic and part of the culture?
