Germany’s Federal Minister of Transport Dr. Volker Wissing has called on the European Commission to enable the use of e-fuels in order to achieve the climate goals. The sales of unblended 100% renewable diesel has previously only been allowed in specific segments, such as in non-road vehicles and public transportation.

The selected projects are located in Bulgaria, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland and Sweden. Finally, another project will be the first full-chain carbon capture and storage project in Bulgaria, linking CO? The geographical reach is also expanding to more countries, including in Eastern Europe.

In a vote of 340 votes for, 279 votes against, and 21 abstentions, the law will push for new performance standards for new cars and vans in line with the EU’s climate goals. The push to transition consumers toward all-electric powertrains is an effort to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions and reach lofty climate goals.

Emissions from international transport (aviation and shipping) contribute another 3% to the total global GHG emissions. Within the EU28 the trends vary between countries with decreases of 6% for the UK and Bulgaria and of 3% for Greece and Spain, while increases of 5% in Ireland and Denmark and of 4% in Sweden and Finland occurred.

Estimating the magnitude of costs associated with future climate change impacts is very uncertain. Sectors excluded from the EEA analysis include transport, households and most agricultural activities—if these were included the cost of pollution would be even higher.
