GM is applying its eAssist mild hybrid system to the 2012 Regal, making it the second Buick model after LaCrosse to feature the second-generation light electrification technology ( earlier post ), which is GM’s current default mild hybrid system for electrification applications of 20 kW power or less. The Chevrolet Volt electric car will go on sale at 13 Shanghai GM Chevrolet dealerships in eight Chinese cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Wuxi, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Foshan. It will be priced at RMB 498,000 (about $78,000). The announcement was made Monday as part of General Motors’ participation in Auto Guangzhou 2011.

Mazda has been repositioning itself into the premium category, and the CX-90 will give it a larger SUV to compete with the Acura MDX , Buick Enclave , Kia Telluride , Hyundai Palisade , Subaru Ascent and Toyota Highlande r. It also will mark the first plug-in hybrid from Mazda when it arrives in two months.
