They wanted to see whether an electric vehicle could feed electricity back to the grid. The company’s president, Tom Gage , dubbed the system “vehicle to grid” or V2G. And EV owners would become entrepreneurs, selling electricity back to the grid. And indeed, that’s how promoters of vehicle-to-grid technology perceive the EV.

BAE Systems has been selected by Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) and the Republic of Ireland’s National Transport Authority (NTA) to supply up to 600 electric power and propulsion systems for its new fleet of buses in Ireland. The selection includes an initial order for 100 systems. Series-ER is essentially Series-E with a larger battery.

BMW of North America and Coulomb Technologies announced that drivers of the BMW ActiveE all-electric vehicle ( earlier post ) will be able to take advantage of the expansion of the ChargePoint Network into the Boston Metro area. The charging stations will be located in the Boston metropolitan area, primarily within the Route 495 Beltway.

The US Department of Energy is awarding $620 million for projects around the country to demonstrate advanced Smart Grid technologies and integrated systems. Smart grid regional demonstrations involving plug-in vehicles include (ranked by DOE funding): Columbus Southern Power Company (doing business as AEP Ohio).

Chrysler Group LLC, working in partnership with the US Department of Energy (DOE), will deliver 10 demonstration fleet Ram 1500 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) pickup trucks to Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA).
