BMW is introducing the BMW 330e and 330e xDrive PHEV sedans ( earlier post ) in the US with an MSRP of $44,550 for 330e and $46,550 for 330e xDrive sedan plus $995 Dest. The estimated EPA purely electric range for the BMW 330e Sedan is 22 miles (20 miles for the 330e xDrive Sedan). Purely electric driving up to 87 mph.

It was a challenge to not tromp on the accelerator, because this is a Maserati, of course, but in our 327 miles driving through Southern California we had a 100-mile all-freeway run at 65 mph deliver 30.6 With 0-60 mph in 5.3 T , Audi SQ5, Porsche Macan, Mercedes-Benz GLC 43, BMW X3 M40i, and sibling Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio.

Maserati says the top speed is a stunning 203 mph, which we believe, but did not attempt, making it the fastest vehicle in its class. The Ghibli Trofeo, with its muscular design, looks nothing like its closest competitors—the BMW M-series, Mercedes-Benz’ AMG line or Cadillac’s Blackwing models. Nice, but tight.

In a simultaneous—and video linked—unveil in New York, London and Beijing, BMW introduced the production version of its i3 battery-electric vehicle on Monday. The BMW i3 uses the BMW eDrive rear-wheel drive powertrain previously found on the BMW ActiveE (but the i3 is significantly lighter). Earlier post.)

The smile inducing silky power and torque was strong, especially in Sport mode, where we turned 0-60 mph times of about 4.9 Bluetooth connection for up to two devices, USB C-type power and data ports, wireless phone charging and a Wi-Fi Hotspot complete the technology. Maserati says the top speed is 187 mph, making this luxury SUV a fast grocery-getter. The design is just different enough that it is easily differentiated from its closest competitors—the BMW X5, Mercedes-AMG GLE63 S and the Porsche Cayenne. The automatic transmission evenly distributes power to all four wheels on an as-needed basis.
