The Alliance for Automotive Innovation (AAI) is reportedly prepared to tell the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that its proposal to significantly reduce vehicle emissions through the 2032 model year is wildly unrealistic. The EPA's proposal also does not mandate a specific technology such as EVs.

The EPA proposed similar rules, but the Biden administration’s plan is slightly less ambitious after the United Auto Workers Union and automakers pushed back on the agency’s ideas. The Biden administration has a goal of cutting emissions by 50 percent or more from 2005 levels by 2030.
