Air pollution from sources such as transport and agriculture is still being emitted above legal limits in 10 European Union (EU) Member States according to new data published by the European Environment Agency (EEA). The main reasons for the exceedances are emissions from road transport (NO x ) and agriculture (NH 3 ).

Over the next two years, MAN Truck & Bus , headquartered in Munich, Germany, plans to establish battery repair centers in Italy, Denmark, Norway, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Poland and the UK. For the first time, preliminary data recently reported to the EEA by Member States allow a comparison with the legally binding emission limits for 2010 set in the EU NEC Directive. Spain was the only Member State to have exceeded three of its four emission ceilings under the NECD; followed by Germany with two exceedances.

A small group of Member States anticipates missing two or more of their legally-binding emission ceilings. Only Spain anticipates missing three emission ceilings: those for NO x , NMVOC and NH 3. Others, such as Ireland, Austria and Belgium, are projected to miss their limits by as much as up to 60%.
