In June 2011, Volvo Car Corporation started the production of the Volvo C30 Electric. The Volvo C30 Electric is manufactured in the Volvo Cars Ghent plant in Belgium and finalized in the Torslanda plant in Sweden. The Volvo C30 Electric has a 20 kWh battery that is recharged from a regular household power socket.

The Volvo Car Corporation has begun production of the C30 Electric ( earlier post ); initial deliveries to leasing customers, mainly companies, authorities and governmental bodies, will take place immediately after the summer. The car is recharged from a regular household power socket. A full recharge takes about 7 hours.

The majority of American consumers surveyed (58%) expect an electric vehicle to recharge its battery in two hours or less, and nearly one in four Americans (23%) expect a 30-minute charge time. Consumers in the United Kingdom and Belgium are the most sensitive to paying a price premium with 71% opposing.
