Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) will start using 30 electric trucks to make “last mile” deliveries to local customers in Belgium. Through a key partnership with Renault Trucks, the beverage manufacturer is electrifying one-fifth of its truck fleet and creating the largest fleet of electric trucks in Belgium.

Volvo Cars launched the battery-electric Volvo C40 Recharge; based on the CMA vehicle platform it is the first Volvo model designed as pure electric only. Following the introduction of the XC40 Recharge and now the C40 Recharge, Volvo Cars will roll out several additional electric models in coming years.

The all-electric Volvo C40 Recharge is available online via volvocars.com in select markets across Europe as of this week. The propulsion system consists of twin electric motors, one on the front and one on the rear axle, powered by a 78 kWh battery that can be fast-charged to 80% in about 40 minutes. of total Volvo Car USA sales.

The Belgian cities of Charleroi and Namur have together ordered 90 Volvo 7900 Electric Hybrid buses as well as 12 charging stations. The charging stations will be delivered by ABB. ABB will supply 4 charging stations to Charleroi and 8 charging stations for Namur. The buyer is public transport company TEC Group.

ABB is introducing an automated fast charging system which allows electric city buses to drive 24/7. With its automated rooftop connection and a typical charge time of 4–6 minutes, the system can easily be integrated in existing bus lines by installing fast chargers at end points, terminals, depots and/or intermediate stops.

Imec, a research and innovation hub in nanoelectronics, digital and energy technologies and partner in EnergyVille—a collaboration between the Flemish research partners KU Leuven, VITO, imec and UHasselt—has developed a solid-state Li-metal battery cell with an energy density of 400 Wh/liter at a charging speed of 0.5C (2 hours).

An infrastructure with more than 13,000 charging stations and 15 battery swapping stations is being built, in order to support the real-life use of electric vehicles. The Volvo C30 Electric is manufactured in the Volvo Cars Ghent plant in Belgium and finalized in the Torslanda plant in Sweden.
