Nissan and New York City have launched a new electric vehicle taxi pilot with the Nissan LEAF. This pilot program, which puts six LEAF taxis into service beginning this spring, will help Nissan, the city, the taxi industry and the public understand how EVs can be integrated into future taxi fleets.

Nissan introduced the Nissan e-NV200 battery-electric compact commercial van ( earlier post ), the second battery-electric vehicle in its global line-up, joining the Nissan LEAF. Most notable is the Lithium-ion battery which has been changed to allow it to fit under e-NV200’s floor without compromising the cargo area.

The Group has developed and built a battery-electric general aviation training aircraft in cooperation with Aero Composites Saintonge (ACS), called E-Fan. Because of timing and availability constraints, off-the-shelf Lithium polymer batteries are used in the technology demonstrator, giving an endurance of between 45 min.
