Azure Dynamics Corporation has selected Johnson Controls-Saft (JCS) as the battery supplier for Azure’s Force Drive integration on the Ford Transit Connect Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV). North American distribution for the battery electric Transit Connect van is targeted to begin in late 2010.

The 2010 Ford Transit Connect. Ford is introducing the North American version of the 2010 Transit Connect light commercial vehicle at the 2009 Chicago Auto Show this week. Ford is collaborating with Smith Electric Vehicles to bring the electric Transit Connect to market in North America in 2010.

Ford detailed seven of the 13 new global electrified vehicles it plans to introduce in the next five years, including hybrid versions of the iconic F-150 pickup and Mustang in the US, a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) Transit Custom van in Europe and a fully electric SUV with an expected range of at least 300 miles (483 km) for customers globally.
