70% of the energy from burning fossil fuel is wasted as heat, while only 30% goes to turn your wheels. So after we use all that electricity pumping oil out of the ground, refining it, transporting it, we then waste 70% when we burn it. So what about the lithium used in EV batteries? So what about the batteries?

The benefit of a higher voltage connector has nothing to do with the speed at which the battery will charge it has to do with the conductor size. Nuclear waste is a problem much harder to solve than CO2, and dams have quite an impact in the environment. The US standard is 120V@60hz the UK standard is 240V@50Hz.

April 10, 2009 10:09 am Link It amazes me that in the vast debate about electric cars world wide including here in Norway, no one ever mention the fact that the batteries in such cars need replacement in no more than five years. So imagine a million electric cars on US roads which all need to change these batteries in say 2015.

The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles.
