Fortum has developed the Joddböle area since the dismantling of its Inkoo coal-fired power plant there in 2017-2020. VGI was established by Tore Ivar Slettemoen, one of the founders of Freyr Batteries. Back then, it was the biggest coal-fired power plant in the Nordic countries.
