Van Hool, an independent Belgian manufacturer of buses, coaches and industrial vehicles, has shipped the first CX45E, a 100% battery electric coach, to the US. The all-electric CX45E will then be delivered to two North American customers. The CX45E is a fully electric powered coach for the North American market.

Volvo Cars launched the battery-electric Volvo C40 Recharge; based on the CMA vehicle platform it is the first Volvo model designed as pure electric only. Following the introduction of the XC40 Recharge and now the C40 Recharge, Volvo Cars will roll out several additional electric models in coming years.

Volvo Cars will build a third manufacturing plant in Europe, positioning the company well to meet the continued demand from its customers for electric cars and capture future growth potential. Series production of next-generation, pure electric Volvo cars is scheduled to start in 2026.

MAN, a member of the Volkswagen Group, is now selling a battery-electric van, the MAN eTGE. Providing a range of up to 160 kilometers and a payload of 950 to 1,700 kg, the electric MAN eTGE is suited for urban tasks, depending on the type approval (3.5 A 40 kW charging station fills a battery up to 80% in 45 minutes.

Electric cars are becoming an attractive business proposition for high-mileage vehicle operators such as ride-sharer Uber in key EU capitals such as Paris, Berlin, Madrid and Lisbon, a new study by research and campaign group Transport & Environment (T&E) has found. In monetary terms, these savings amount to €3,000 (US$3,400) every year.
