Plug-in hybrids differ from hybrids on the road today in that they can go longer distances on battery power and can be recharged via electrical outlets. It is different from a plug-in hybrid, or PHEV, which runs on both battery power and gasoline. Which electric-car developer counts former U. Bright Automotive.

By reducing wind resistance and weight, the company’s engineers effectively are reducing the amount of work an electric engine will have to perform to get the car up to driving speeds, which in turn conserves battery power.&#. What they got wrong was assuming that all of those vehicles would run on battery power alone, with gasoline-electric hybrid technology bound for the technological scrap heap. The short-lived 2012 Fisker Karma took a similar approach. Automakers got one thing right: Electrified cars are the future.

The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles. Toyota Prius modders have already been adding larger batteries so the vehicle can run on battery power. Way to go morons.
