The Chevrolet Volt’s all-new second-generation Voltec extended-range electric propulsion system ( earlier post ) delivers 53 miles (85 km) of all-electric range, based on EPA testing. Chevrolet expects many next-generation Volt owners will use power solely from their batteries for more than 90% of trips.

Opel and Europcar have agreed to introduce the Opel Ampera extended range electric vehicle ( earlier post ) as a rental car throughout Europe. The market introduction of the Opel Ampera (the European cousin of the Chevy Volt) is due by the end of 2011. Europcar provides electric and hybrid vehicles.
