NASA satellite images highlight US air quality improvement with reduction of NO2

After ten years in orbit, the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) on NASA’s Aura satellite has been in orbit sufficiently long to show that people in major US cities are breathing less nitrogen dioxide. More before-and-after images are available on flickr. It’s also a good proxy for the presence of air pollution in general.

Junkyard Find: 1993 Nissan Stanza Altima GXE

Finally, in a Denver-area boneyard , I found this battered '93 GXE sedan. We can assume that generous rebates and discounts were available on new '93 Stanza Altimas. It appears that no airbags were available on any first-year Stanza Altimas here. The original Altima was the replacement for the U12 Bluebird -derived Stanza here.

EPA proposes air pollution standards for oil and gas drilling operations; focus on capture of escaping natural gas

This significant reduction would largely be accomplished by capturing natural gas that currently escapes to the air and making that gas available for sale through technologies and processes already in use by several companies and required in some states.
