Fisker will release the much anticipated Fisker Karma about one year from now if everything stays on track. The company, including founder Henrik Fisker believes that plug-in hybrids represent the future of automobiles and he believes that public charging stations will be unnecessary as consumers will demand plug-in and EREVs over.

The Fisker Karma Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) ( earlier post ) will make its public driving debut during the Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races on 15 August, 19 months after being unveiled as a concept car. The Fisker Karma will also be on display at Concorso Italiano on 14 August, alongside the Karma Sunset hardtop convertible concept.

The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles.
