Geely Holding has provided two Geely Auto Emgrand methanol sedans ( earlier post ) and the world’s first M100 heavy truck to Danish partners as part of the long-term trial. From well to wheel, Geely’s methanol vehicles allows for a 70% reduction in CO 2 emissions compared to gasoline models.

CRI, founded in 2006 in Reykjavik, Iceland, is developing technology to produce renewable methanol from clean energy and recycled CO 2 emissions. Geely Auto has invested significant resources in the development and promotion of methanol-fueled engines and vehicles over a long period and has already made progress with this technology in China.

This first cluster is an important step as we continue to build capability in retailing hydrogen fuel, in line with the auto makers’ plans to develop hydrogen vehicles. However, Shell does produce hydrogen from electricity on site (via electrolysis) in three of its stations (Santa Monica, CA; White Plains, New York; and Reykjavik, Iceland).
