The Toyota Prius has come a long way since it debuted 22 years ago, as the second hybrid car to be sold in the United States (after the first generation Honda Insight). Toyota has rated the 2023 Prius hybrid at between 50 and 57 miles per gallon (mpg), with the higher range for the FWD models.

The 2022 Kia Rio S is a small car with much going for it. This combination delivers EPA fuel economy numbers of 33 mpg city/41 highway/36 combined. As a test, part of those miles were driven with the cruise control set at 65 mph where we averaged 44 mpg, and at 60 mph resulting in 51.4 Basic Transportation Kicked-up a Notch.

Topping out at more than 50 MPG.

If you are looking for a standout car to drive, then checkout the 2021 Mazda6 before it is gone. at 23 mpg city/31 highway/26 combined. This engine, with cylinder deactivation, is rated at 26 mpg city/35 highway/29 combined. This pains me to say the Mazda6 has been discontinued after the 2021 model year. Leaving on a high note.
