The company will invest €60 million in the construction of its first production facility, called “Plant One”, of which €30 million comes from a European Investment Bank (EIB) loan facility. The rest of the financing comes from LeydenJar’s client projects, earlier committed grants and the Series A investment round in 2021.

Separately, Italian railway operators Azienda Regionale Sarda Trasporti (ARST) and Ferrovie della Calabria (FdC) awarded Stadler two framework agreements for the supply and maintenance of 10 hydrogen trains for ARST in Sardinia and 15 similar vehicles for FdC in Calabria.

Representatives from the State of Hesse, RMV (Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund), Alstom and Infraserv broke ground for a hydrogen filling station on the site of the Höchst industrial park in Frankfurt that will supply a fleet of 27 passenger fuel cell trains—currently, the world’s largest such.

Fisker in a statement said it has sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection with a court in Delaware, and that it is currently in talks with creditors over debtor-in-possession financing and the sale of remaining assets. The company hasn’t said what support will be offered for Ocean owners.

Volta began series production in Austria ahead of those planned deliveries in Q3 2023, but things started to go south once its battery supplier Proterra filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last summer. Beyond the UK, Volta Trucks says its customer trials will expand in Q2 to customers in Germany, France, Nordics, and Austria.

Tesla introduced its lease-sale hybrid financing product for the Model S through one of the company’s specified banking partners at the beginning of Q2.
