Watch any overseas You Tube channel and you may be led to believe that in Australia and NZ we’re being left wanting. There are some truly awesome vehicles coming to Australia and New Zealand. Charge times will also be equivalent to the Taycan, with a maximum DC charging capacity of 270kW, for a 100km of driving range in five minutes.

The arrival of the Cupra Born in Australia is pretty significant. The four-year old Spanish spin-off from SEAT has also beaten the Volkswagen brand to market in Australia with its first BEV ( with more to come ), although VW will soon be fighting back with a concerted rollout of its own electric vehicles starting with the ID.4

Ignorance is bliss (at least Australia is moving to more renewables for power generation!). That said, if that’s your typical daily commute, it’s easy to see how plugging in overnight would give you all the juice you need. Now reset, I go to put it in the Taycan’s still open DC port. The Polestar 2 was Australia’s fourth best-selling EV of 2022 , behind only Tesla’s Model 3 and Model Y , plus the cheapie disruptor BYD Atto 3. The bigger battery brings no extra power or performance, but its DC charging capacity is up to 150kW rather than the Standard Range’s up to 130kW.

It will appear in Europe next year as the Opel Ampera and in Australia as the Holden Volt in 2012. South Korea did that and Australia is going to be doing that. A simple, clean, efficient EV that wont run out of juice because of its on-board gas generator. So is the management in Washinton DC.
