Shell starts production at Vito in US Gulf of Mexico; new, simplified design

In 2015, the original host design was rescoped and simplified, resulting in a reduction of approximately 80% in CO 2 emissions over the lifetime of the facility as well as a cost reduction of more than 70% from the original host concept. Shell reached an FID on Whale in 2021 and is currently scheduled to begin production in 2024.

DNV GL paper suggests near-term success for LNG in shipping; alternative fuel mix to diversify over time

LNG bunkering for ships is currently only available in a number of places in Europe, Incheon (Korea) and Buenos Aires (Argentina) but the world’s bunkering grid is developing. Engine concepts include gas-only engines; dual fuel 4-stroke; and 2-stoke. LNG engines currently being produced cover a broad range of power outputs.
