Aptera has recently announced through SEC filings that they are in the process of securing capital to start production. Aptera is in a race against time to get production started as they search for funding to start production. Aptera applied for a grant from the California Energy Commission earlier this year.

Sales of plug-in cars are steady, but not overwhelming. The Volt has had to contend with the overblown battery fire incident and the production hiatus. Bright Automotive went under.
