Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) showcased the utility’s first extended-range electric truck with manufacturer VIA Motors at three Bay Area National Plug-In Day events—in San Francisco, San Rafael and Cupertino—on Sunday. PG&E joined with VIA Motors in 2008 to develop the extended-range electric vehicle, or eREV.

Boston Public Schools will operate 11% of its bus fleet with Blue Bird propane autogas buses, starting with the 2015-2016 school year. The school district is purchasing 86 Blue Bird Propane Vision school buses, and hopes to convert more of their diesel fleet to propane buses in the future.

Transitioning the fleet to all electric will eliminate emissions from diesel buses and emissions from shipping diesel fuel by barge 900 miles from Seattle. By replacing aging fleet vehicles with Proterra electric buses, the City of Fairfield will improve both route efficiency and air quality.

The Pennsylvania Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant (AFIG) program has awarded Axion Power International, Inc. The project will save more than 700,000 gallons of diesel fuel annually and avoid more than 495 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. 176,900 to retrofit a 40-vehicle fleet with auxiliary idle reduction systems.
