Opel and Europcar have agreed to introduce the Opel Ampera extended range electric vehicle ( earlier post ) as a rental car throughout Europe. The market introduction of the Opel Ampera (the European cousin of the Chevy Volt) is due by the end of 2011. Europcar provides electric and hybrid vehicles. Opel Ampera.

Volvo Cars revealed its first premium small SUV, the all-electric EX30, in an event in Milan, Italy. The EX30 expands Volvo’s all-electric offering to four models. The Volvo EX30 is available for order across Europe and other selected markets.

Fisker Automotive has appointed its first group of 32 US retailers to market and service its luxury plug-in hybrid vehicles, beginning with the $87,900 Karma sedan later this year. All Fisker retailers are well-established; many are family-owned. The Karma is an Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV).

From the end of 2010 production at the Rastatt plant will also be expanded with small series production of the battery-electric A-Class E-CELL. All three variants accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 11 seconds. The most important markets for the compact vehicles from Rastatt are Germany, Italy, France and the UK, Daimler said.
