The California Center for Jobs & The Economy has released an updated report ( earlier post ) on vehicle sales and the progress of ZEV sales in the state for Q3 2020. The report is based on sales data from the California New Car Dealers Association (CNCDA). YTD 2020 new vehicle marketshare for full electrics is 6.1%, up from 5.1%

The regulation applies to automakers (not dealers) and covers only new vehicle sales. The Clean Vehicle Assistance Program provides low-income car buyers with special financing and up to $5,000 in down-payment assistance. Sales of new ZEVs and PHEVs will start with 35% that year, build to 68% in 2030, and reach 100% in 2035.

However, there is an increase in the number of sales in electric four-wheelers from 3,000 units in FY2019-2020 to 4,588 units in FY2020-21, which is a 52.93 Ministry of Finance (MoF). The electric three-wheelers have recorded sales of 88,378 whereas 140,683 units were recorded in FY20. This is a 37.17 per cent sales decline.
