Consumer Reports (CR) analyzed its 2019 and 2020 reliability survey data for many thousands of electric and gas-powered vehicles, and found that drivers of electric vehicles are saving an average of 50% on maintenance and repair over the life of a vehicle compared to owners of gas-powered vehicles.

In 2019, more than a quarter of California IOU customers were enrolled in the CARE program. What Californians pay is much higher than the true marginal cost of using electricity. Borenstein is presenting the report’s findings to the Public Utilities Commission today at an En Banc hearing on energy rates and costs in California.

While the cost of new heavy-duty trucks has increased at approximately 1% per year, the cost of emission controls has come down, representing a lower percentage of the cost of a new truck.

During 2014, the global plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) industry is poised to grow by 86% and will surpass more than 346,000 new vehicles sold, according to a new white paper—“ Electric Vehicles: 10 Predictions for 2014 ”—published by Navigant Research. By 2022, not even California will meet the 10% ZEV requirement.
