Researchers at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, have identified two main challenges for renewable biofuel production from cheap sources: lowering the cost of developing microbial cell factories; and establishing more efficient methods for hydrolysis of biomass to sugars for fermentation. That is in line with our research too.

The Rhodium Group, an independent research provider, estimates that, after a sharp uptick in 2018, US greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions fell by 2.1% Emissions from buildings, industry and other parts of the economy rose, though less than in 2018. That’s higher than the 3% gain in 2018, but lower than the 13% gains posted in 2016 and 2017.

This proprietary novel gas fermentation technology converts the carbon monoxide-containing waste gases emitted by blast furnace, coke oven and BOF (basic oxygen furnace) operations into low-cost ethanol and high-value chemicals. If successful, the first commercialization of this technology is expected as early as 2018.
