Tesla Gigafactory Nevada might not be attracting as much attention as its newer siblings like Giga Texas and Giga Berlin, but the massive battery factory is still undergoing improvements. This is evidenced by satellite images from late March, which still showed a notably lower volume of solar panels on Giga Nevada’s roof. .

Tesla will completely cover its Nevada Gigafactory in solar panels by the end of 2022, the company said in its 2020 Impact Report. Over the past several years, the Tesla Gigafactory in Nevada has flown under the radar, not getting the attention the facility really deserves. The project has been ongoing since February 2018.

Tesla and Panasonic have begun mass production of high-performance cylindrical “2170” (21mm diameter, 70mm height) lithium-ion battery cells at the Gigafactory in Nevada. The output will first be used in Tesla’s energy storage products and then in the Model 3. Model 3 cell production will follow in Q2.

Not long after an updated Tesla Semi prototype was sighted charging in the Gigafactory Nevada complex, the Class 8 all-electric hauler was spotted alongside the battery factory’s regular fleet of trucks. A source sent me a photo today of a Tesla Semi at the Giga Nevada production building offloading a trailer.
