The Buick LaCrosse is adding eAssist light electrification for the 2018 model. Compared to previous Buick eAssist executions ( earlier post ), this newest iteration is more sophisticated, powerful and compact. It will be the standard powertrain for the 2018 LaCrosse, which goes on sale this fall.

Buick’s vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology made its debut at the Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition. Later this year, Buick will become the first brand in China officially to roll out the market-ready technology on a production vehicle, a Buick GL8. Past work on V2X in China.

When the 2017 Buick LaCrosse made its debut at the 2015 Los Angeles auto show, the eAssist mild-hybrid powertrain offered in the previous-generation model was noticeably absent. Buick has rectified the issue for the 2018 model year by announcing that its 2018 LaCrosse will come standard with a mild-hybrid powertrain.

The total number accounts for 30% of employees at SAIC-GM, 10% at SAIC Volkswagen, and more than 50% at its Rising Auto EV subsidiary, two unnamed sources told Reuters. SAIC-GM makes Chevrolets, Buicks, and Cadillacs. Tesla set up its wholly own entity in China in 2018 in Shanghai, where it produces its biggest global output.
