Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) will launch a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model of the all-new Outlander crossover SUV with a new-generation PHEV system. Outlander PHEV launched in the US in 2016 as a 2017 model-year vehicle. The gasoline model of the all-new Outlander was released in North America in April 2021.

As expected, the combination of fewer diesel registrations and more SUVs continued to have an impact on emissions. Despite this positive change, their emission levels were still higher than the averages they recorded in 2016 and 2017. SUVs were the biggest driver of growth in terms of volume and profits for European markets last year.

Cumulative sales of electric vehicles by the Renault Nissan Alliance rose to 481,151 units in the first half of 2017, reaffirming the Alliance’s role as the leading electric car manufacturer for the mass-market segment. Infiniti sold more than 125,000 vehicles in the first half, an increase of roughly 13% on the same period of 2016.

In February, the leader was the Volvo XC40 PHEV, scoring its second win in a row, this time with 231 units, while its BEV twin was 5th, with 114 registrations, both helping the Swedish SUV to become the 3rd best selling model in the overall market (#1 Ford Fiesta; #2 Kia Picanto), as 59% of the smaller Volvo registrations came from these two.

Speaking of Dinosaurs.the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV was 3rd last month, with 202 deliveries, while in #8 we have two surprising models, with the Ford Kuga PHEV delivering 117 units, so it seems Ford's SUV deliveries are starting to recover, while the Porsche Cayenne PHEV had its best score since December 2015, also with 117 registrations.
