While the overall automotive market is still in red (-4% YoY), in December, Europe's passenger plugin market had an historic month, having registered a record 281,000 registrations (+264% YoY!), 2 Tesla Model 3 - The 2019 Best Selling EV in Europe delivered a record 24,664 units, which in normal times would grant it the Best Seller honour.

The Porsche 718 is now dead in Europe after it failed to meet the European Union’s so-called “cybersecurity” regulations. Spokesperson Oliver Hilger confirmed that the 718 was done and dusted in Europe. At any rate, the regulations have taken what is arguably Porsche’s best drivers’ car that isn’t the 911.

In the remaining positions of this Top 5 we have the #4 Renault Zoe and #5 Tesla Model Y, that have beaten their personal records too. Interestingly, Porsche (5.662 units, new record) and NIO (record 7.007 units) have kept their Top 20 positions, a small feat for what are niche brands. But more on that later.
