It enables electric cars to be charged with direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) using the standard Combo 2 connector. The majority of stations currently available on the market support DC charging with 50 kW. An AC/DC converter inverts the current, which is then fed into the high-voltage electrical system.

It will appear in Europe next year as the Opel Ampera and in Australia as the Holden Volt in 2012. Toyota Prius modders have already been adding larger batteries so the vehicle can run on battery power. So is the management in Washinton DC. Way to go morons. P.S. The Volt is not revolutionary.
